Library Information: Book Limits
Pre-K and K: One book per week - stays in the classroom
1-2: One book per week - may go home when the classroom teacher feels that the student is ready.
3-5: Two items per week - no more than 1 magazine.
6: Three items per week - no more than 1 magazine.
Renewals: Students may renew a book for up to three weeks.
Overdues: Books are due back in the library each week. If a student has an overdue book, he or she will not be allowed to check out a new book.
Additional books: Any student who finishes a book before their regularly scheduled library class time may ask their teacher for permission to visit the library. Please be respectful to any classes in the library and considerate to Mrs. Damon if she is in the middle of teaching a lesson. Use an "I would like to borrow this book" slip and leave your new book on the counter for Mrs. Damon to checkout when she is not taking care of another class.
Reading Tips:
1. Read in a special place.
2. Visit the library often. and talk to the librarian about your interests.
3. Visit bookstores often to get ideas for new reading material.
4. Check out magazines, newspapers, the internet and television documentaries to broaden your interests.
5. Read about subjects that interest you.
6. Keep a reading journal and write a brief opinion about what you read.
7. Read outloud to someone else.
8. Talk to your friends, your parents or your teacher about what you read - retell the story.
9, Start a reading club
10. Find a series you like and read all the books in that series.
11. Use a bookmark to mark your place
